Donaldson supports a long list of organizations through financial donations, as well as through numerous volunteer events that allow our people to help those in need.
In addition to hands-on philanthropic activity, our company donates a significant portion of pre-tax net domestic earnings annually to charities, which totaled $955,000 in fiscal year 2012. The Donaldson Foundation, our principal instrument for our charitable giving with an emphasis on education, fulfills its mission through scholarships, matching contributions and direct grants to community organizations.
Here is just some of the nonprofit organizations supported by Donaldson and coordinated by our employees at the corporate level:
Bridging
Bridging provides families in transition with a bed to sleep on, a chair to sit on, and a dish to eat from, which turns their house into a home. Each year, Donaldson employees participate in their Bedrace for Bridging and also donate 1-3 truckloads of household items to help replenish their shelves.
Junior Achievement
Donaldson is committed to providing the volunteers necessary to extend the opportunity for students to participate in Junior Achievement in grades K-12. We sponsor Oak Grove Elementary School in Bloomington (MN) and hold an annual bowl-a-thon fundraiser where over 25 teams raise more than $20,000 in support of JA.
Loaves and Fishes
Four times a year, employees of Donaldson volunteer for Loaves & Fishes at Creekside Community Center in Bloomington to cook and serve a nutritious meal to people who are hungry.
Memorial Blood Centers
Donaldson teams up with Memorial Blood Centers to sponsor blood drives on the Bloomington Campus. We hold at least five drives annually.
MS150 Bike Ride
Donaldson Company forms a team of 230+ riders who participate in the MS150 Bike Ride. This is an annual fundraiser for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and Donaldson riders raise over $230,000 toward helping battle the crippling disease.
Pillsbury United Communities: Full Cycleunite
In combination with our annual MS150 fundraiser, Donaldson employees gather used bicycles to donate to the Full Cycle Program at Pillsbury House and participate in an on-site sale of refurbished bicycles. The program helps homeless teens.
The Family Partnership
The Family Partnership (TFP) is based in the inner-city of Minneapolis. TFP provides family services to traditionally underserved children, families and communities. Donaldson employees’ contributions include school supplies and holiday baskets.
Toys for Tots
Donaldson employees collect toys and gifts for children because "every child should be remembered during the holidays."
United Way
Annually, Donaldson holds a campaign to raise money for the United Way. In the 2012 Campaign, Donaldson employees and retirees raised over $560,000 dollars for the Greater Twin Cities United Way.
