DONALDSON SELECTED TO PROVIDE PERKINS ENGINES A PULSE JET AIR CLEANING (PJAC™) SYSTEM
First Donaldson PJAC system in Europe for TERRIERŪ vehicles
MINNEAPOLIS, MN – February 28 – Donaldson Company (NYSE:DCI), a leading, worldwide manufacturer of filtration systems and parts, has been selected by Perkins Engines, a wholly owned subsidiary of Caterpillar located in the United Kingdom, to provide a Pulse Jet Air Cleaning (PJAC™) system to support the engine used in the BAE System TERRIERŪ vehicle. This is the first Donaldson PJAC system sold into Europe.
The Donaldson PJAC is a patented, self-cleaning air filter that cleans filter elements with short duration pulses of compressed air. With proven desert-conditions performance, the high efficiency PJAC system is designed to operate in demanding environmental conditions providing the highest level of efficiency – 99.99+%. Additionally, the Donaldson system, which can sustain as much as 200 hours of desert use without filter maintenance, provides optimal reliability, reduced fuel consumption, extended filter service life and decreased engine air restriction. The BAE Systems TERRIER vehicle is an agile, capable and air-transportable general support engineering vehicle with a wide variety of early entry, combat support and post-conflict roles.
The PJAC air filter is manufactured using Donaldson’s Ultra-WebŪ nanofiber technology. The Ultra-Web design causes submicron contaminant to load on the surface rather than dispersing throughout the depth of the filter where there is less area for the air to flow. The smaller, interfiber spaces of Ultra-Web nanofiber technology have higher efficiency and capture more contaminant.
