Keaths Excavation installs a PowerCore Air Cleaner in off-road equipment

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – April 12, 2010 – Excavating to beat back brush fires is a dusty, dirty job. To reduce engine-arresting dust and soot, Keaths Excavation installed a Donaldson PowerCore® Air Cleaner manufactured by Donaldson Company, Inc. (NYSE:DCI), a leading, worldwide manufacturer of filtration systems and parts, to keep some of its off-road equipment working longer and more efficiently while fighting fires in Victoria, Australia.

Keaths Excavation deployed a host of off-road excavation equipment, including excavators, dozers, graders and backhoes to help build firebreaks and retainers in Elidon and neighboring Marysville. Commenting on the job, Frank Keath, owner of Keaths Excavation, said, "The soot was like a thick layer of Talcum powder ... the most extreme conditions I've ever seen." He praised the recently fitted Donaldson D100031 PowerCore Air Cleaner as helping keep his equipment in the field when it was needed the most.
Donaldson's PowerCore filters are manufactured using patented Ultra-Web® technology, which produces a filter that provides maximum efficiency – 99.98 percent – with contaminant holding capacity greater than any traditional cellulose filter. "The PowerCore achieved 150 hours in the field," continued Keath. "That may seem quite small, but due to the extreme nature of the condition and the sheer amount of smoke, dust and soot in the air, the PowerCore unit far outlasted traditional filters, which struggled to provide 50 hours worth of life."
