NEW PATENTS FOR DONALDSON DPF CLEANING SYTEM
MINNEAPOLIS, MN – September 24, 2008 – Donaldson Company (NYSE:DCI), a leading, worldwide manufacturer of filtration systems and parts, announced new patents for the proprietary design of the Donaldson Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Pulse Cleaning System.
Compliance with recent diesel engine emissions regulations has significantly increased the use of Diesel Particulate Filters (DPFs). As part of the emission reduction process, DPFs capture ash and soot generated during the diesel combustion cycle and, through a regeneration process, oxidize the soot leaving the ash behind. Consequently, DPFs require periodic cleaning to remove ash.
In developing the DPF Cleaning System, Donaldson utilized its experience in industrial dust collection with a “cross-over” technology approach – taken proven Donaldson Pulse-Jet technology from the dust collection business and applying it to diesel engine emission reduction products.
The Donaldson DPF Cleaning System, in production since 2006, is a proven two-stage cleaning system incorporating a DPF Pulse Cleaner and DPF Thermal Regenerator. The Donaldson DPF Cleaning System is simple and easy to operate with automated controls and built-in safety mechanisms.
