FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DONALDSON AWARDED HARC GRANT FOR SCR SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT AND VERIFICATION

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – September 29, 2009 – Donaldson Company (NYSE:DCI), a leading, worldwide manufacturer of filtration systems and parts, announced today that the Houston Advanced Research Center (HARC) awarded the company a $750,000 grant for Non-Road Retrofit DPF/Selective Catalyst Reduction (SCR) System Development and Verification. The award is in response to the Texas Environmental Research Consortium (TERC) New Technology Research and Development (NTRD) Request for Grant application number 18.

"We are pleased to receive this grant which is awarded based on the successful completion of project goals, including submission for verification of PM/NOx control to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) by April 2011," said Fred Schmidt, director of the Emissions Retrofit Business at Donaldson Company. "The DPF/SCR technology will permit fleets to reduce both PM and NOx emissions on certain off-road equipment. The technology is targeting PM reductions of 85+%, and NOx reductions of more than 70 percent. What distinguishes the Donaldson approach relates to the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) injection preparation and mixing method. Our system will optimize mixing, thus providing significant performance improvements, DEF deposit prevention, and reduced ammonia slip compared to current industry standard approaches."

Launched in 2001, the New Technology Research and Development (NTRD) program identifies, tests, and evaluates new emissions-reducing technologies with potential for commercialization in the state of Texas and to facilitate their certification or verification. The NTRD program is funded by the State of Texas through the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and TERC and is administered by HARC.
