TORIT® POWERCORE® DUST COLLECTORS NOW AVAILABLE IN LARGER SIZES
UP TO 30,000 CFM FROM DONALDSON® TORIT®

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – December 2– Donaldson Torit announces the availability of four larger models in its Torit PowerCore “smaller, smarter” line of dust collectors, ranging in airflow capacity up to 30,000 CFM.*

  • CPC-16 with 16 PowerCore® Filter Packs, 4280 – 10700 CFM
  • CPC-24 with 24 PowerCore Filter Packs, 6440 – 16000 CFM
  • CPC-32 with 32 PowerCore Filter Packs, 8560 – 21000 CFM
  • CPC-48 with 48 PowerCore Filter Packs, 12800 – 32000 CFM

Because they are 30 – 50% physically smaller than traditional baghouses with comparable airflow, Torit PowerCore dust collectors enable grain processors to upgrade older, under-performing baghouses to higher airflow, yet remain in the same space envelope. The four new models are designed for bin vent aspiration and transfer or transportation of flour and grain, either the larger particulate from first cleaning or fine product throughout the milling process.

Torit PowerCore was introduced in May 2008 at IAOM in sizes from 800 CFM to 4800 CFM. These smaller sizes are often used as bin vents and positioned over conveyors at the point of dust generation.

Like the first units, the new models are low-profile compared to traditional baghouses, as much as 50% smaller. PowerCore with Ultra-Web® nanofiber filter media is the key to the size reduction: PowerCore filter packs are only 7” tall compared to a typical 8- to 12-ft-long filter bag. Donaldson’s patented PowerCore media technology handles more air volume per filter pack allowing the height of the collector to be reduced 30% to 50%.

Most grain facilities don’t have extra space to add larger dust collector when production increases. The compact sizing of Torit PowerCore overcomes this problem.

Kristine Graham, Donaldson product manager, shares an example. “At one grain processing facility, the customer’s requirements were for a general aspiration collector that could handle 13,000 CFM. Options included the Torit PowerCore model CPC-24, containing 24 PowerCore filter packs, designed to operate within a CFM range of 6440 to 16,000, with dimensions of 127”W x 153”H x 84”D. Or, a traditional baghouse rated for 12,400 to 24,900 CFM, with 243 filter bags, measuring 241”W x 318”H x 85”D. The Torit PowerCore is the smarter choice in this case because it’s smaller -- 47% narrower and 52% shorter than the baghouse -- yet handles just as much airflow.”

The lower-profile also allows positioning it in tight spaces where a baghouse wouldn’t fit, closer to the point of dust generation. This can mean significant saving to the end-user in ducting and energy usage.

Another advantage is that there are fewer filters to change out at service time (243 bags vs 24 filter packs in the example above) and the PowerCore filter packs are easier to service. In most baghouses, the filters must be pulled out from the dirty side. PowerCore filter packs have handles on the clean side (top) of the pack, and can be simply lifted out, without mess, without complaint from the maintenance crew, and without being in a confined space.

The CPC models are mounted on legs, with a hopper below the collector that can be fitted with a 55 gallon drum, a screw conveyor, or one of Donaldson’s dumper hopper options.
