If you’re designing a transmission, you probably want filtration heads integrated directly into the transmission housings, rather than using a remote-mount solution. We can do that. Donaldson has extensive experience developing filtration systems that meet a range of design and validation requirements, including pressure ratings, service life, holding capacity, porting and sensors, test cycles, and much more. These solutions can be supplied as either direct mounts or as heads that can be integrated into a range of transmission housings. We also offer standard filter options or customized filters for unique applications or requirements.

From Full Filtration Systems to Single Filters, Donaldson Has the Custom Transmission Filter Options for Your Needs

Filtration customization is one of our specialties. We provide custom filters for OEMs who have already developed an integrated head interface. Or, for OEMs who need head integration and filtration, we can provide a range of options, including sharing of intellectual property (IP) information to develop proprietary fit solutions that support service part standardization and retention. We also have the ability to fully customize heads to meet porting and sensor integration requirements.

If an OEM needs an integrated head in their transmission housing, we will work with them directly to understand their goals and requirements. In many cases, Donaldson engineers will also offer recommendations for system design enhancements, improved durability, and better filtration performance.

Donaldson also offers a full portfolio of filter applications. Medium-pressure filters are the most commonly used filters in transmissions and gearboxes, and our Duramax® spin-ons or FLK bowl / cartridge systems will meet the needs of many applications. We also offer high-temperature seals and media grades, which are often required in transmission and gearbox applications.
