Overview

Donaldson Weld-Fit enclosure protection vents can be configured into virtually any size, giving you flexible, high performance protection for even the most complex enclosures. We’ll collaborate with you to select the right materials, like hydrophobic or oleophobic, and welding methods to ensure reliable, integrated performance.

Our experienced engineers will partner with you to determine the required parameters for your application and together create the best solution. Options include our proprietary Tetratex™ ePTFE membrane and a range of support materials. For customers who have the ability to weld ePTFE media into their own plastic housings, Donaldson can create tailored size and material combinations.

Standard Materials

  • The many options include Donaldson's proprietary Tetratex™ ePTFE membrane, woven, nonwoven, and extruded materials such as nylon, polyester, polypropylene, and polyester/polyethylene
  • Hydrophobic and oleophobic acoustic materials are available
  • Membrane thickness: <0.3mm (<0.012 in.)
  • Continuous Operating Temperature Range: -40° to 149° C / -40° to 300° F
  • Minimum efficiency of 99.97% on 0.1 micron particles
  • Material data sheets available upon request

Handling Instructions

  • Wear gloves or use rounded tweezers when handling the vents
  • Mounting surfaces should be clean and free of oils, particles, and other contaminants
  • Follow dispenser instructions when using an automated vent dispenser
  • For manual vent dispensing, roll the liner under the vent until the vent extends beyond the liner and becomes easily accessible
  • Do not pry the vent from the liner or fold the vent, as this could damage the vent

Typical Construction of Weld-Fit Assemblies

A Weld-Fit Assembly is comprised of a filter material attached thermally, with adhesive, or over-molded in a plastic housing and supplied as a vent assembly.

Typical Weld-Fit Assemblies include:

  • High efficiency PTFE membrane - Acts as particulate, hydrophobic, and oleophobic barrier while allowing necessary gases to flow through
  • Plastic housing - Incorporates the filter material and is designed to fit into your enclosure. Available in a wide variety of thermoplastics, elastomers, and other materials

Packaging Options

  • Weld-Fit Media:
    • Manufactured, inspected and packaged in clean room environment
    • Supplied on a light-tack adhesive continuous release liner: 2,000 - 5,000 parts per polyethylene cores
    • Roll sealed in clean room bag unless otherwise specified
    • Optional protective liner
