With today's diesel engines, coolant balance is key to keeping your engine running efficiently. Your engine coolant battles rust, scale formation, acidity, foaming, silicate drop-out, and debris while it works to transfer heat and maintain the right operating conditions for optimal fuel economy. Our coolant filters allow you to choose the method that suits your maintenance practices and schedules.
Standard Donaldson Coolant Filters
Cooling systems are typically partial flow (by-pass) filters, with less than 10% of coolant flowing through the filter. We offer a range of filters designed to work in a variety of operating environments and maintenance schedules. Use of the correct filter is important to maintain the proper balance to prevent over-concentration (silicate dropout) or under-concentration, which leads to corrosion, liner pitting, and other system problems.
There are 3 types of standard coolant filters:
- Pre-Charge Filter — contains enough coolant additive to initially charge the cooling system and to allow for depletion to the first service interval.
- Standard Charge Spin-On Filter — contains adequate chemical additive to maintain cooling systems between service intervals.
- Blank Filter — contains no chemical additive and can be used with cooling systems maintained by liquid additive, systems using long-life coolants which require no additive, or on overcharged systems to help bring the additive back to the normal range. Blank filters are not intended for use with water-only systems.
Benefits
- Rugged design and materials for extra durability
- Seals are constructed specifically to withstand extreme heat and cold
Applications
- Organic acid coolant systems – Organic acid technology (OAT); Hybrid coolant systems – blend of traditional and organic coolant
Available Media Type
- Cellulose – cost-effectively meets application efficiency and capacity requirements
Donaldson Blue® Coolant Filters
Donaldson Blue® coolant filters are available in two different packaging options – additive replenishment technology or non-chemical (blank). They are direct replacements for standard coolant filters.
Donaldson Blue® Coolant Filters with Additive Replenishment Technology
Donaldson Blue coolant filters with Additive Replenishment Technology maintain cooling system balance through a controlled release of additives over a period of time to maintain proper additive levels.
These premium coolant filters use Synteq™ media to remove fine contaminants from sensitive coolant systems. Donaldson Blue filters with additive replenishment technology will extend coolant maintenance intervals up to once a year or 195,000 km / 150,000 mi.
Features
- Direct replacement of standard OE filters – no system modifications or special maintenance required
- Heavy-duty Hydrogenated Nitrile Butadiene Rubber (HNBR) seals to withstand extreme cold and heat
Benefits
- Maintains healthy coolant condition through a controlled release of additives
- Reduces maintenance costs
- Extend traditional diesel engine coolant maintenance intervals up to once a year or 195,000 km / 150,000 mi
Applications
- Traditional coolant systems; For use with Supplemental Coolant Additive (SCA & SCA+) – Ethyl Glycol or Propylene Glycol coolants
Available Media Type
- Donaldson exclusive Synteq™ – synthetic fiber media for greater filtration efficiency and higher dust-holding capacity
Non-Chemical Donaldson Blue® Coolant Filters
Non-chemical Donaldson Blue filters will go the distance of your coolant. This allows you to add liquid additives to your cooling systems as needed.
Features
- Allows the user to add liquid additives to their cooling systems as needed
Benefits
- Will last the distance of the system's coolant
Applications
- Organic acid coolant systems – Organic acid technology (OAT); Hybrid coolant systems – blend of traditional and organic coolant
Available Media Type
- Donaldson exclusive Synteq™ – synthetic fiber media for greater filtration efficiency and higher dust-holding capacity
